Dr. Alisa Acosta is the Director of Research and Education at the Blockchain Research Institute (BRI). She holds a PhD from the University of Toronto, where her research explored the design of learning analytics, intelligent agents, immersive simulations, and smart classroom architectures to support collaborative learning in face-to-face contexts. As a designer, educator, and researcher, Alisa believes that building a more just and inclusive digital future requires not only innovation, but intention—listening deeply, learning constantly, and creating space for voices that are too often unheard. Since joining BRI in 2018, Alisa has played a key role in evolving the institute’s syndicated research model toward tailored, high-impact services. Through custom research, educational programming, expert advisory services, and ecosystem-building events, her work helps distill complex ideas into actionable insights that enable organizations to lead, adapt, and thrive in the next era of the digital economy.
