Ethan Buchman is CEO of Informal Systems and Cycles, and co-founder of the Cosmos Network. He previously co-founded Tendermint Inc., where he led Tendermint’s development and helped establish the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol. With an academic background in neuroscience, mathematics, biophysics, machine learning, and distributed systems, Ethan is dedicated to building secure, interoperable blockchain solutions. His work champions decentralized systems that promote economic fairness and global financial inclusion. At Informal Systems, in addition to being CEO, Ethan is developing Cycles, an open clearing protocol designed to clear the most debt for the most people using minimal resources. Under his leadership, Informal Systems secured significant funding to expand its mission of transforming the Web3 ecosystem.
