Evan Thomas is General Counsel for Alluvial, a software development company offering enterprise-grade staking products and services. Alluvial also works with industry leaders to shepherd the product development and growth of Liquid Collective, the open and interoperable staking network. Evan was previously the Head of Legal for Wealthsimple Crypto, the crypto trading platform operated by Wealthsimple, Canada’s largest consumer fintech, and the first platform to be registered under Canada’s regulatory framework for crypto trading. While at Wealthsimple, Evan helped launch Canada’s first regulated staking service. Before Wealthsimple, Evan was a litigator at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP for nearly 15 years. Among other notable cases, Evan was hearing counsel to 3iQ in an appeal that secured regulatory approval for Canada’s first publicly traded bitcoin fund.
