Matt Solomon is a litigation partner in Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP’s Washington, D.C. office. His practice focuses on civil and criminal government-facing investigations and litigation, as well as private commercial litigation, in state and federal courts nationwide. Matt previously served as the SEC’s Chief Litigation Counsel, where he managed the agency’s entire federal litigation docket through its 150 dedicated litigators. Before that, Matt held a series of senior positions at the U.S. Department of Justice including as the Fraud Unit Chief of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C. Matt is Chambers-ranked in Crypto Asset: Disputes, Securities Regulation: Enforcement, and Litigation: White Collar Crime. He has served a lead trial counsel in some of the most prominent crypto-related litigations, including SEC v. Ripple Labs, Inc. and SEC v. Payward, Inc. Matt received a bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University and a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
